A Vision In White

For Hansen, the reigning 2-year-old thoroughbred champion, every race is like a work of performance art. Not in the way he runs, which is almost always at the front of the field, but the way he looks as he does it. He is the color of alabaster, a striking white vision set against the bays, browns and chestnuts he has left behind in all but one race.Hansen, last year’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner, is one of the leading contenders for the May 5 Kentucky Derby. His final prep race will be the Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland on Saturday.

His only loss in five starts came Jan. 29 in the Holy Bull at Gulfstream Park, where he was second to Algorithms. His last race was the Gotham Stakes at Aqueduct on March 3.       Read Full
