Is this the end for family saloons? None features in top ten of Britain's most popular cars

Big saloon cars are being driven off the nation's driveways in favour of family-friendly people-carriers and runarounds.

According to research published yesterday, the Ford Mondeo and others of its like no longer feature in the UK's top ten of most popular cars. 

The saloon has been replaced by either a smaller car, such as a Volkswagen Golf or a Peugeot 207, or a specialist vehicle that better caters to family needs – a 4x4 or an MPV such as the Citroen Picasso or Ford Galaxy.     Full Read
