Rottnest beach closed after 2m bronze whaler shark seen


A ROTTNEST beach has been closed after a shark sighting during an aerial patrol of the island this morning. 
 
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter spotted a two-metre bronze whaler shark about 500m west of Duck Rock during a routine patrol.

The Basin has now been closed for at least an hour.

Water Police, Rottnest rangers and lifeguards have been notified.

The sighting comes after three fatal shark attacks in WA waters in less than two months.

George Wainwright, 32, was killed by a 3m white pointer while diving alone about 500m off Little Armstrong Bay on the island's north-west coast.    Full Read
