Tibetan Nun Who Set Herself On Fire Dies

A 20-year-old Tibetan nun who set herself on fire in protest against China's religious policies has died, according to Tibet independent groups.

The death comes after the self-immolation of at least seven young Tibetan monks since March this year.

Five are believed to have died and the whereabouts of several of the others is unknown. The youngest were just 17 years old.

With one exception, all of the suicides have taken place in Aba in western Sichuan, a mountainous area close to the Tibet Plateau.

The town is home to the Kirti Monastery, a centre of Buddhist learning, and is populated mainly by Tibetan nomads and farmers.    Read Here
