Planes travelling at five times the speed of sound and passenger aircraft flying in formation could be a reality before the end of the century.
But if the UK is to be at the forefront of future aerospace innovation then action must be taken now, a report by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IME) has said.Even in the next 20 years, there are potential sales of 25,000 new aircraft set to be worth more than £2trn, the report added.
