THE whistleblower whose email to Bathurst Regional Council led to
inquiries that uncovered allegedly fraudulent activities in a third of
the councils in NSW said yesterday that he had written the warning when
he was blind drunk, but he stood by it.
The email said: ''I know for a fact your council has been ripped off $400,000 over the last 6 years on false purchase orders through your store … a name that u might know is geoff hadley and pinnacle and uts but I want a reward.''The whistleblower, whose name was suppressed yesterday by the head of the Independent Commission Against Corruption, David Ipp, QC, said he had worked for Universal Telemarketing Services Pty Ltd.
