No wonder you had a hangover...


BRITAIN'S recycling centres have been swamped — with 13,350 TONNES of festive empties.

Champagne, wine, spirit and beer bottles from Christmas or New Year celebrations make up the bulk of the glass.

But mincemeat and cranberry sauce jars also put in an appearance.

Recycling the mountain of glass will save 4,200 tonnes of carbon dioxide being produced — equivalent to taking 1,300 cars off the road for a year.

The empties have to be separated by colour before being crushed into small pieces, then cleaned using magnets and lasers.       More
