Sole power gives poverty the boot


IT all began when 10-year-old Tom Brooke-Smith finished a school project about people living in poverty, sparking a desire to make a difference for people in Kenya. 
 
The St Andrews' School student read about the charity Soles4Souls in The Advertiser and decided to start a drive at his school.

Tom wrote a letter to his principal Deb Dalwood and inspired his classmates to start collecting shoes about six weeks ago. In that short time, two classrooms have collected more than 150 pairs.

Tom has much bigger hopes - he wants 1000 pairs. But he is already dealing with some logistical challenges.    More Read
