An England football fan who drove 30
miles home in an ambulance parked outside a suspected heart attack
patient's house was jailed for 16 weeks yesterday.
Tyrone Weir, 35, went to last month's friendly clash with world champions Spain at Wembley.
He was drinking throughout the evening, but became separated from his friends and had no money or means of getting home.
He is believed to have walked to Hackney, East London, where he saw the empty ambulance with its engine running, and drove it home to Chelmsford in Essex.
London Ambulance Service called police, who found the vehicle parked outside Weir's home. He appeared before magistrates in Chelmsford yesterday where he admitted taking a vehicle without consent, failing to provide a specimen of breath, driving without insurance and possessing cannabis. More Read
