Children in Need raises record amount

THE Children In Need appeal set a new £26million record early today.

With an hour still to go, the cash raised by the live BBC1 show was already well ahead of the £20million given during last year's event and £26,332,334 was eventually pledged.

This year's show, hosted by Sir Terry Wogan, kicked off with boyband One Direction performing their single What Makes You Beautiful.

Co-hosts Tess Daly, Alesha Dixon and Fearne Cotton wore gold and posed as Charlie's Angels.    Full Read
