CHILDCARE centres that raise fees from January 1 and blame the
federal government's overhaul of the industry will be named and shamed.
The Minister for Childcare, Kate Ellis, told The Sun-Herald some privately run centres were out to profit from the changes.
''I know that some childcare providers are using these reforms as an excuse to raise fees next year far above and beyond what is required to cover the cost of these reforms,'' Ms Ellis said. ''The government will not shy away from publicly holding to account centres that mislead parents by using these important reforms as an excuse for excessive fee increases.''
From next year, all childcare centres will have to meet new regulations designed to improve the quality of facilities and raise staff training levels. They will also be required to have one carer for every four children aged up to 24 months. More Read
