Altoona city taxes stay flat

Altoona residents would see a minimal tax increase for city services, if the City Council adopts a proposed 2012 budget that includes a tax levy increase of less than 1 percent.

The council will vote Thursday on the budget, which includes a $2.21 million levy - the amount residents pay in property taxes for city services - an increase of 0.15 percent from this year.

Under the plan, the city's portion of residents' tax bills would remain flat, city officials said, noting Altoona's tax rate would remain unchanged.   More Read
