A HEARTLESS thief who ripped off
over $100,000 from disaster recovery funds set up for Black Saturday
bushfires victims was slammed by a judge today for his "dishonest and
outrageous" greed.
Judge Michael Tinney told George Hebaiter, 55, he exploited Federal Government schemes hastily established to help people in desperate need after the devastating fires that took the lives of 173 people.
The judge said during his crime spree Hebaiter assumed 94 different identities, mainly of people from Kinglake, which was one of communities hardest hit by the tragedy. Read Here
