It's Christmas in April... and May is predicted to be coldest for 100 years

With the hills blanketed in white and the sky heavy with snow, it looks like the perfect setting for a Christmas card.

Except this photograph was taken yesterday, after wintry showers wiped out our fragile spring.

This farmer in Teesdale, County Durham, was forced to return to his winter hay barn to feed his sheep when the unseasonable weather turned his fields from green to white.     More Read
