Pike bit off more than it could chew

A RAVENOUS pike has been found dead after attempting to swallow a 3lb carp WHOLE.

The monster fish choked to death after literally biting off more than it could chew.

The 12lb, 32in pike had lived in the depths of a lake at Hermitage Fisheries in Clare, Suffolk, for ten years before meeting its unfortunate end.

It had managed to live through two ordeals of being hooked by fishermen this summer, but in the end the creature was a victim of its own greed.

Owner of the fisheries, David Walker, discovered the pike and its victim floating in the middle of the lake after a regular angler alerted him to the situation.

Mr Walker, a farmer who has spent 15 years building the fisheries as a hobby, said he was "stunned" by the bizarre discovery.    Full Read
