Model horrifically injured in ultra-marathon bushfire masks her burns with a black balaclava as she attends inquiry

Once, her eyes smiled at the camera as she posed for portraits as a photographer's model - but today she could only stare out through a black mask that covered the hideous burns she suffered when she was caught in a bushfire.

Turia Pitt, 24, received agonising burns to 64 per cent of her body when she was trapped in the fire, which swept through part of north west Australia last year as she and others took part in an ultramarathon.

Turia and another victim of the fire, Kate Sanderson, 36, have agreed to appear at a parliamentary inquiry to help investigators piece together what went wrong.         More Read
