COPS were digging up a garden yesterday after a tip that a woman’s body was buried there more than 50 years ago.
They believe she could be the victim of an unreported crime in the 1950s.
The family currently living at the three-bedroom semi-detached house have been moved out while the search goes on. Police stressed the family had no connection with the investigation and were not suspected of any crime.
Neighbours said the garden once had a pond, which was filled in with gravel.
A forensic science team is being aided by Home Office experts. Yesterday’s dig drew a blank but police said they were acting on “credible information”. They were told that the woman was called Laura. More
