Taxpayers foot bill for civil servants' clothes

BARMY compensation rules allow civil servants to claim for clothes damaged at work — even if they are to blame, it was claimed today. 

Hard-pressed taxpayers are shelling out for possessions including laddered tights, snagged suits, ripped blouses and damaged handbags.

A dossier details how much employees can expect to be reimbursed, based on the original price and age of the garments.

They include £225 for a £300 woollen suit that was 12 months old, falling to £150 if it was two years old.     Read Here
