TWO thousand serious criminals a year will be able to hide previous convictions under plans touted by Ken Clarke.
The Justice Secretary wants to reform the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act to help former prisoners "wipe the slate clean".Under the plans — blasted by Labour — the convictions of anyone jailed for between 30 months and four years would be "spent" after seven years.
That means they would no longer have to tell prospective employers about their criminal past.
Figures uncovered by Labour show it will benefit around 2,000 ex-cons, including violent thugs and sex offenders, every year. Read Here
