As troops face job cuts, MoD hands £290m in one year to consultants

The Ministry of Defence squandered almost £300million last year on specialist consultants while frontline troops faced a pay squeeze and job cuts.

The wasteful Whitehall department siphoned the extraordinary sum from its equipment budget and into the pockets of private project managers.

The money was supposed to be spent on weapons, armour and vehicles needed by the Armed Forces for fighting in Afghanistan and on other operations.       Read Full
