Top City lawyer 'concocted web of lies to police that he had been kidnapped to escape drink-drive charge'

A top City lawyer lied to police that he had been kidnapped so he could escape a drink-driving charge after crashing his car, a court heard.

Wealthy Francis Bridgeman, 43, is accused of spinning a bizarre web of lies so detectives would believe an armed gang attacked him on his way home from work and stole his grey Range Rover Sport.

In fact, the Oxford-educated solicitor from Wadhurst, East Sussex, crashed the powerful vehicle into a telegraph pole on April 6 last year after drinking five pints of Guinness, Brighton Crown Court heard.    Read Full
