Recession creates spike in divorce rate which rises for the first time in EIGHT years

The impact of the recession has filtered down into family life and led to more rows about money, it was claimed today.

Economic hardship has been blamed for an increase in the number of divorces - the first rise in the number of marriage breakdowns since 2003.


Data published by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) showed the number of divorces in England and Wales in 2010 was 119,589, a 4.9 per cent increase since 2009, when there were 113,949 divorces.     Read Here
