Robert Lund, from Darwen, Lancashire, was found guilty of an offence akin to manslaughter after the body was discovered near the couple's retirement home in the remote village of Rayssac, south-west France.
Originally convicted by a court in Albi in the Tarn area of France in 2007, he was retried in 2009 and jailed for 12 years.
But 59-year-old Lund, a former tree surgeon, has always protested his innocence and is prepared to stake everything on the chance to clear his name when he goes before the courts again today - this time in the southern French town of Montauban. Read Here
