Barry Morrow arrested over double killing in Southport

A man has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of a mother and daughter in Southport.

Barry Morrow, 51, was a lodger at the house in Fairhaven Road where the bodies of Angela Holgate, 54, and Alice Huyton, 75, were found on Saturday.

Mr Morrow, from Southport, went missing after the bodies were found, prompting a search.

Merseyside Police said a 51-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of murdering both women.

Post-mortem examination results showed that Ms Holgate and Mrs Huyton died of asphyxiation and that Ms Holgate died some time before her mother.

Police had previously appealed for Mr Morrow to come forward, and believed he may have left the country for France or Spain.      Full Read
