Tragedy for Sudanese family seeking better life as Rida, 7, missing in the Mirrumbidge River


THE family of a boy missing in a river swollen by rain walked kilometres along its banks yesterday in the desperate hope of finding him. 
 
The seven-year-old boy, named Rida, was playing on Sunday afternoon with friends at the edge of the Murrumbidgee River, made fast flowing and muddy by the rains, downstream of Wagga Wagga Beach.
About 3pm the boy fell into the river and was disappeared downstream.

As the boy's family trudged along the river's banks and police divers searched its waters, it emerged Rida's family had fled war-torn Sudan for a better life in Australia.        More Read
