Almost 40 per cent of marriages at a register office were found to be bogus when border officials staked-out the premises.Out of 78 wedding applications at Leeds Register Office over a two-week period, 30 were found to be sham marriages, with couples failing to turn up for their own weddings when they realised immigration officials were waiting for them.
