Hospital's Victory To Save Children's Unit

A leading hospital has won its High Court case over plans by the NHS to stop it operating on children with heart defects.

The Royal Brompton Hospital had argued that closing the unit would make other services for sick children unviable.

It was the first time that a hospital has taken legal action against another NHS organisation.

The judge ruled that the public consultation into the plans were unlawful and must be quashed.

Mr Justice Owen said the consultation had unfairly represented the quality of the hospital's research.   More Read
