Breaking up? Take care you don't die from a broken heart

The question posed about whether it is possible to die from heartbreak may seem ludicrous, however, the answer is simple.

"You can, and this has been described in biblical literature," said Hunter Champion, a heart failure cardiologist who directs the University of Pittsburgh Medical Centre's pulmonary vascular disease program.

Champion has long researched the cardiac condition properly known as stress cardiomyopathy. It's commonly called broken heart syndrome because of the emotional events that apparently trigger it.   Read Full
