Tesco admits shelving temporary staff to get around new EU rules of pay and conditions

Tesco has admitted that it is cutting back on temporary staff following the introduction of EU rules granting them higher pay and better conditions.

The Agency Workers Directive, introduced this month, gives temporary employees the same rights as full-time staff after 12 weeks in a job.

British businesses could lose up to £2billion a year in increased wages, overtime payments and holiday pay.   More Read
