Microsoft chief admits lucky escape from buying Yahoo!

In a week which has seen Yahoo! post disappointing third quarter results, during which its profit and revenue slipped year-on-year, Ballmer’s sighs of relief over not paying over the odds for the ailing internet firm, will have come as a harsh blow.

Speaking at the annual Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco, the straight-talking Microsoft chief admitted, when asked whether he was relieved that the company had not bought Yahoo! for $44.6bn: “Hallelujah…You know times change…sometimes you’re lucky.”   More Read
