Freed Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit is
showing signs of malnourishment and briefly lost consciousness on his
journey back to Israel today, after he was released from more than five
years in Hamas captivity.
Shalit appeared weak, pale and extremely thin as he arrived in Israel's Tel Nof Air Force base this morning and was given oxygen after complaining of feeling nauseous.
The 25-year-old, who is also showing signs of lack of exposure to the sun, fainted on the helicopter journey to the base after being escorted over the Egyptian border.
Despite his gaunt appearance, the staff-sergeant told of his joy at his release and insisted he was in good health. Full Read
