Crunch time at Christmas as peanut prices rocket because of bad weather and poor harvests

Peanut lovers are facing big price rises this Christmas of their favourite crunchy treats.

Producers and supermarkets are being hit by rocketing costs and shortages just ahead of the crucial festive season, reveals a new report.

Poor harvests because of bad weather in key growing regions has meant the wholesale price of peanuts from the U.S. has doubled from over £1,000 a tonne at the beginning of 2011 to almost £2,000 a tonne.   Read Full
