Charities forced to show records on new MySchool like website

CHARITIES spending up to 60 per cent of donations on million-dollar campaigns, telemarketers and black-tie balls will be disclosed on a new My School-like website. 
 
The Daily Telegraph can today reveal how much some of Australia's best-known charities spend on administration, with seven spending more than 40 per cent of donations on the "cost of fundraising".But in the competitive world of chasing donor dollars, charities warned that "league table" comparisons based on cost ratios would be unfair and detrimental.

The Gillard government has committed $53.6 million over four years in setting up independent regulator the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission (ACNC).Charities experienced a short-term plunge in donations after a similar scheme in the UK threw open the ledgers.   More Read
