Male nurse arrested in Stepping Hill hospital poisoning investigation

The 46-year-old man was arrested on Thursday morning after staff at Stepping Hill hospital noticed that the medical records of another patient had been tampered with.
It followed the death of Bill Dickson, an 82-year-old former journalist who died on New Year’s Eve. Officers believe Mr Dickson had his saline drip sabotaged in July and are trying to establish whether that led to his death. He was the fourth patient to die after his saline drip was contaminated with insulin at the hospital. A total of 20 people are believed to have been deliberately poisoned.
The male nurse was arrested at his home in Stockport after a female nurse on night duty reported on Tuesday that medical records appeared to have been altered. The alterations to prescription charts led to the patient being administered extra doses of medicine. The doses were not fatal and the patient has since been discharged.      Read Full
