Cut-price food con found by TV probe

SUPERMARKETS con shoppers with fake offers that actually cost MORE, a TV probe claims tonight.

Panorama found 17 "Bigger Pack, Better Value" deals were dearer than buying two small packs.

In Morrisons, a 1kg Clover spread cost £1.70 more than two 500g ones.

A fabric conditioner labelled "Now £2" had cost £1.65 two weeks earlier. And pizzas labelled "Wow" on Asda's website had gone UP in price.

A £4 Tesco "price drop" chicken had cost £4 for months, but leapt to £5 weeks before the cost-cut.

Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury's and Morrisons all deny any wrongdoing.
But consumer expert Deborah Parry said they could face prosecution.   More Read
