The "American Idol" and "X Factor" personality denounced the ever-persistent rumors about his sexuality in a new biography, but also specified that he'd have no shame if they were true, according to the British tabloid The Sun.
As Cowell told author Tom Bower, "If I was gay, why wouldn't I admit it? It wouldn't harm me, and my mother wouldn't freak out."
Excerpts from the new book, titled "Sweet Revenge: The Intimate Life of Simon Cowell," have been published in The Sun. Cowell's secret romance with Aussie pop star Dannii Minogue (younger sister of Kylie) are among the book's other revelations. "Simon was on his own at the time and she was on her own, too," Bower is quoted by MTV UK as saying. "There was a natural chemistry between them.
