Motorway closed as bodies of horses and cows being taken for incineration are thrown across carriageway in lorry crash

Motorway drivers were confronted with the distressing sight of scores of dead animals lying across a carriageway when a lorry transporting them crashed.

The carcasses of horses and cows were thrown from the huge articulated vehicle on the southbound carriageway of the A1(M) close to Boroughbridge, North Yorkshire, resulting in the whole road being closed.
