Scientists have discovered a new species of the nocturnal critter in Vietnam – and it's one of the ugliest animals on Earth.The grotesque folds of skin that carpet the hideous beast's face are thought to help with with echolocation – the sonar-like ability they use to help them navigate.
The animal, which feasts predominantly on insects, has been christened Griffin's leaf-nosed bat and was first seen in 2008 in a national park in Vietnam.
But it wasn't until later, after researchers caught some, that they realised it was an entirely new species. Full Read
