14 shops shut down in High Street every day


AT least 14 shops a day are shutting down on the UK's high streets, a study shows. 

More closed last year than opened — for the first time since the start of the recession.

Bookshops, electrical, travel and men's fashion stores have been hardest hit as shoppers go online to hunt out bargains.

The real number of casualties will be higher, because researchers only focused on chain stores in the 500 biggest town centres. Supermarkets, pawnbrokers, charity, pound and shoe outlets are among the few retailers bucking the trend.      Read Here
