Store cards crackdown: Shops to be banned from using hard-sell tactics on customers

Shops are to be barred from offering instant discounts and free gifts to lure customers to take out store cards.

The move follows complaints that retailers and finance companies are  using hard-sell tactics to tempt shoppers to spend money that they do not have.

Many cards hit users with rip-off interest rates which can top 30per cent if debts are not paid off in full.   More Read
