A Tauranga man was killed and two other people injured when a light plane crashed on to a golf course near Arrowtown yesterday.
The dead man was Ian Douglas Sloan, aged 59.
Mr Sloan was the registered owner of the Cessna Skyhawk, which was believed to have been approaching a private grass airstrip when it crashed on to the Arrowtown course.
Emergency services tried to revive him but he died at the scene.
The other people on board - a man in his 30s and a woman in her 60s - were injured in the crash.
Last night, they were in a stable condition in Dunedin Hospital.
The cause of the crash has yet to be determined and police still have to interview several witnesses. More Read
