A DANGEROUS bushfire has been
brought under control in the Shire of Gingin, with firefighters saving
eight homes from the inferno which razed 350ha of forest.
At 9.30pm on Sunday night, Fire and Emergency Services downgraded fire warnings for people in the area bounded by Brand Hwy, Red Gully Rd, Fynes Rd and Mogumber Rd, in the Shire of Gingin from "Watch and Act" to "Bushfire Advice".
"There is no longer a threat to lives or homes but residents are warned to be aware of the fire and keep up to date, with a bushfire advice still active in the area," FESA has warned.
Increased humidity on Sunday evening dulled the fire's intensity, helping officials bring the deadly blaze under control.
Fast-moving, southeasterly winds that were travelling at 700m per hour threatening to drive the fire onto homes also slowed to 300m per hour. Read Full
