James Holmes, Aurora Shooting Suspect, Used Internet For Arsenal

James Holmes Aresenal Internet
DENVER — In a world where Amazon can track your next book purchase and you must register to buy allergy medicine, James Holmes spent months stockpiling thousands of bullets and head-to-toe ballistic gear without raising any red flags with authorities.

The suspect in the mass theater shooting availed himself of an unregulated online marketplace that allows consumers to acquire some of the tools of modern warfare as if they were pieces of a new wardrobe.

The Internet is awash in sites ranging from BulkAmmo.com, which this weekend listed a sale on a thousand rifle rounds for $335, to eBay, where bidding on one armored special forces helmet has risen to $799.

"We're different than other cultures," said Dudley Brown, executive director of Rocky Mountain Gun Owners, which advocates for firearms owners' rights. "We do allow Americans to possess the accoutrements that our military generally has."       Read Here

Pictured: The RAF warplane pilot killed and his two colleagues missing presumed dead after jets crashed in mid-air collision while 'flying through thick fog'

The three Tornado jet crew lost in a crash in the Moray Firth this week were named for the first time today as Defence Secretary Philip Hammond today paid tribute to the pilots.

Mr Hammond said Flight Lieutenant Hywel Poole had been killed, and Squadron Leader Samuel Bailey and Flight Lieutenant Adam Sanders were still missing presumed dead.

'My thoughts - and, I am sure, those of the entire House - are with their loved ones at this difficult time, and with the fourth member of the squadron involved in the incident, who is currently in a serious but stable condition in hospital,' he told MPs.

The fatal mid-air crash off the north-east coast of Scotland between the two RAF Tornados may have been caused by fog, it was claimed earlier this week.       More

The breast restaurant guide: How waitresses offering dinner and a tacky 'view' are keeping U.S. diners alive in the recession

The waitresses at Twin Peaks wear skimpy plaid tops that accentuate their chests.
In case you didn't catch the joke, the chain's logo is an image of two pointy,

snow-capped mountains. And the sports bar doesn't stop there: It promises 'scenic views.'

Twin Peaks owner Randy DeWitt downplays all of that and insists that the appeal of the restaurant goes beyond the obvious. Hearty meals and a focus on making customers feel special, he says, are what really keeps them coming back.     More Read

Is this the world's weirdest beach? Crystal-clear saltwater, golden sand and even waves... yet it's in the middle of a meadow

Tucked away in a lush green meadow, this is quite possibly the weirdest beach you're ever likely to see.

Gulpiyuri beach is an extraordinary stretch of shoreline near the town of Llanes in northern Spain, which boasts stunning crystal-clear salt waters that are even fully tidal.

Incredibly there are even waves lapping up against the 40m stretch of golden sand making the whole experience even more magical so it's almost impossible to resist taking a dip, although the temperatures can be rather cold.        Full Read

Father and son arrested in case of teen mum who vanished 21 years ago as police tear up their garden in hunt for body

A father and son were today arrested by police  investigating the disappearance of teenager Nicola Payne in Coventry 21 years ago.

Officers confirmed they had arrested two men aged 74 and 45 on suspicion of conspiracy to prevent the lawful and decent burial of a body - the pair were named locally as Patrick Judge, 74, and eldest son Keith, 45.

The development came as police expanded their search to the back garden of the semi-detached property in the Wood End area of the city.

Officers used x-ray equipment to search the house where the younger man is believed to have lived with his disabled father.

The property is just around the corner from parkland where a major search was launched yesterday after a tip-off that Miss Payne could be buried in scrubland.       More

Hope the Ascot Fashion Police had their blinkers on! Strip club girls arrive at royal course in skintight blue catsuits they made themselves (but they're not let in)

If the Queen had chanced to glance across the parade ground as she entered in her Royal carriage this afternoon, she would have been met by a most unlikely sight.

A group of six deeply tanned women were spotted at the entrance of the royal race course, posing for photographs wearing skintight blue all-in-ones that looked for all the world like futuristic smurf suits.

If that wasn't enough to make the Queen blanch, the sextet were handing fliers and stickers to local strip club Tantric Blue to bemused racegoers as they entered the grounds.

Thankfully for the delicate constitution of the more genteel guests (but no doubt to the disappointment of others), the lycra-clad women were quickly dispatched by officials who disapproved of the scantily clad women promoting the so-called gentleman's club outside the event.             More Read
