Father and son arrested in case of teen mum who vanished 21 years ago as police tear up their garden in hunt for body

A father and son were today arrested by police  investigating the disappearance of teenager Nicola Payne in Coventry 21 years ago.

Officers confirmed they had arrested two men aged 74 and 45 on suspicion of conspiracy to prevent the lawful and decent burial of a body - the pair were named locally as Patrick Judge, 74, and eldest son Keith, 45.


The development came as police expanded their search to the back garden of the semi-detached property in the Wood End area of the city.

Officers used x-ray equipment to search the house where the younger man is believed to have lived with his disabled father.

The property is just around the corner from parkland where a major search was launched yesterday after a tip-off that Miss Payne could be buried in scrubland.       More

A MAN who was upset with his daughter’s lifestyle decapitated her with a sword and paraded her severed head through his village.

Marble miner Ogad Singh was angered by a series of affairs his 20-year-old daughter Manju Kunwar had recently had and became enraged when she eloped with a man two weeks ago.

Manju had been living with her parents in the Rajasthani village of Dungarji after leaving her husband two years ago.

Police Superintendent Umesh Ojha said Singh forced her to return home from her new husband on Sunday and beheaded her the following day, before surrendering to the authorities.             More Read

Kieran Diggle’s uncle was set to buy him the Apple tablet as a treat. But as the boy played with it in a branch of John Lewis, he saw the shocking images.

Two girls, 11, rescued after getting stuck to their waists in mud while trying to save their dog... who managed to free himself

Two young girls had to be rescued after they got trapped in mud trying to save their dog 300ft out into a harbour - which then managed to get out on its own.

The 11-year-olds waded out to where the little terrier was stranded but became stuck up to their waists, unable to move as their pet ran back to shore.

A couple claim their house is haunted after capturing what they believe to be an apparition of a baby ghost on camera.

Shocked John Gore, 43, was taking photographs of his pet cats when he noticed the bizarre outline of a small ghostly figure.

At Dale Farm it took ten years. Yesterday this farmer and his digger saw off invading travellers in just three hours!

When he found travellers’ caravans had arrived on his land, Dave Dawson had two options.

He could either alert the authorities and wait for the slow turning of the wheels of justice and officialdom.

Or he could rely on the somewhat quicker wheels of his digger – and remove the caravans by force.

Taking the second course of action, Mr Dawson put in a call to the police to inform them of his intentions, which risked leading to his arrest.

Officers arrived to oversee what appeared to be a few heated exchanges before – remarkably – the travellers left of their own accord.

His swift action stands in stark contrast to the decade-long battle to shift travellers from the notorious Dale Farm site in Essex, which only came to an end in October last year.         Read More

A graphic new image shows the grisly scene just moments after the Miami cannibal was shot dead by police as he chewed off a homeless man's face.


It shows Rudy Eugene lying naked in a pool of blood next to his victim Ronald Poppo, who was attacked as he slept by a busy highway.


Poppo, whose head is drenched in blood, is naked below the waist after Eugene stripped off his trousers before pummeling him and climbing on top of him.

The horrific image was taken moments after a Miami-Dade police officer shot Eugene dead after he refused to stop attacking Poppo on May 26.

On her current honeymoon in Las Vegas with new husband Ian Minton, Merna has been lathering on lots of sun lotion.

The couple arrived in Nevada's Sin City on June 4 and are spending two weeks in the sun before heading home to the UK.

A couple who were given suspended jail terms for hurling their pet dog into the sea, won their appeal against conviction.

The terrier dog called Jess was first thrown into the water from a slipway at Exmouth, Devon, by his owner Linda Jones.

A court heard the couple were photographed by an eye-witness who caught their actions in a series of pictures which showed Jess being hurled into the water and twisting in mid air before nose diving into the sea.

Jones, 51, and 62-year-old John Nesbitt, from Exmouth, Devon, denied a charge of causing unnecessary suffering to Jess one summer’s day last June, but were convicted after a trial in the magistrates court.           More Read

Primary school forced to apologise after pupils are told to clear their plates before being allowed in the playground

Teachers have apologised to parents after a group of primary school children were forced to stay in the canteen until they had finished all the food on their plates.

Parents of children attending Kaizen Primary School in Plaistow, East London, were left fuming after a group of pupils, some as young as five, were told they had to clear their plates before being allowed out into the playground.

Even though years ago parents would not have batted an eyelid and would have welcomed schools encouraging their children to eat, dozens of parents complained, saying that children should 'not be forced to eat' by teachers.          More Read
